Elective Subjects

In this academic year, elective subjects are offered to pupils of the budgetary department. In elective subjects, the curricula supplementing the contents of the basic programme of the “Fine Arts” are realized or assist to see the variety of types of activity connected with it. This allows satisfying various cognitive interests of children and teenagers. Such lessons enable pupils to develop interest in this or that subject and to define professional predilections.

For each session in the first and second classes 2 lessons per week are allocated, and in the third to fifth classes on 3 lessons.
Such a duration of lessons is optimum from both the methodical and technological points of view.

Education in each of the offered elective subjects are carried out according to designed techniques of the art director of the school (parallel work of the teacher and pupil on one subject). For 15 to 30 minutes of each class, pupils only observe of work of the teacher and listen to his explanations.

A lot of time is spent with preparation of materials for the start of work, which is carried out by pupils independently after demonstration of the teacher. Performance of any task of the curriculum of each elective subject demands observance of a particular sequence of operations, following the previous one and which cannot be separated by a significant time interval.

«Sketches». The education programme is an independent training course. In the basic course, artistic sketching is done by simple pencil on white paper, the purpose of which is transfer of colour via different gradations of tone.

The sketches curriculum acquaints pupils with various techniques, technologies and ways of sketching. The various genres of sketches existing in academic art in different eras are studied. This curriculum enriches and develops creative, composition, and figurative thinking of the pupil, supplements the vivacity and variety of relatively dry specific academic requirements, directed at fulfilment of the basic programme. The aim of the curriculum is development of visual memory, vision of proportions, character, movement and improvement of accuracy and skill in drawing.

«Flowers: various techniques of image on paper». This programme is preparatory to the painting on porcelain and ceramics programme in the senior classes. Drawing and a water colour should transfer faithfully the detail of all parts of a plant unlike drawing and colouring in the basic programme of the course which pursues transfer of a subject in given tone and frequency and colour environment with emphasis of artistic image.

Improvement of skills of drawing and colouring is necessary for free use in the further creative work, and for stylization in ornaments in signature work on porcelain and ceramics.

«Painting on porcelain and ceramics». The curriculum represents a synthesis of two kinds of occupation on which theory is strengthened by practice expressed in work with material (porcelain, ceramics).

The theoretical part assumes studying the bases of composition of arts and crafts, requirements for signatures in lines, corners, circles etc. Pupils create versions of sketches of ornaments, and subject pictures. Thus, they carry out spadework for practical employment. For the future signature, the teacher determines the final choice of sketches with each pupil in practical lessons.

«Etching». This programme acquaints pupils with various techniques in etching, develops composite thinking of pupils, allows obtaining various technical skills in work with a needle and etching tool etc.

Sketches for an etching frequently represents independent work. Sketches taken from books are not accepted. If necessary, the teacher together with the pupil carries out re-composition of a study or sketch.

«Interior Painting». The programme acquaints pupils with the best samples of arts and crafts and monumental painting, with the materials of the technological process and practical work in drawing on walls, ceilings and so forth.

Each pupil independently prepares their version wall or ceiling design. All proposed sketches are analyzed by the teacher and pupils during the classes. The best sketches are finished off and affirmed for fulfilment.

Lessons in the interior painting programme demands reorganization of consciousness of the pupil for best development of specificity in composite and graphic (technical) means in work with small forms or large planes (wall, ceiling).

For students of the department of paid additional educational services learning education programmes are offered subjects in etching, composition of easel painting, and painting on porcelain and ceramics, allowing with the presence of necessary art preparation obtaining initial skills and expertise in these types of fine arts.
